It’s May 12 — a true Taurean! I’ve re-broadcast my full moon story twice or was it three times … and now, in honor of the ineffable, inimitable Katharine Hepburn, who once lived in room 34B at Pembroke East, I’m re-presenting my ancient tribute! I just read her wiki for the first time, the other day, and learned a few new facts … further augmenting my respect … call it adoration, I suppose! Here’s her wiki … and it even has her yearbook picture: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Katharine_Hepburn And here’s what I wrote back in 2011….

With 2012 almost here, it’s a good time to share Katharine Hepburn’s brownie recipe. It first went public in an ’03 NYT story about how one famous Mawrtyr helped another Mawrtyr make it to the next step. www.nytimes.com/2003/07/06/nyregion/l-straight-talk-from-miss-hepburn-plus-the-actress-s-own-brownie-recipe-400831.html
No time to read now? Here are Ms. Hepburn’s three rules to live by:
1) Never quit.
2) Be yourself.
3) Don’t put too much flour in your brownies.
Kate returned for a rare visit to Bryn Mawr, when I was a junior, and gave a very down-to-earth speech about her student days. She shook our hands and made us sigh.
My very favorite Katharine Hepburn movies are:

Katharine Hepburn’s Brownies
Ingredients
Preparation
Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Melt butter in saucepan with cocoa and stir until smooth. Remove from heat and allow to cool for a few minutes. Mix in eggs, one at a time. Add sugar, flour, nuts, vanilla and salt. Pour into a greased 8×8 square pan. Bake 40 minutes. ”Don’t overbake!” They should be gooey. Let cool (an essential step) and cut into bars.
